Background: Despite a high population growth rate in India, infertility remains as a major reproductive health problem. Although, a large number of infertile couples have already benefited from assisted reproductive technology (ART), some have remained childless. One possible option that they may consider is embryo donation (ED) procedure. There are still worldwide controversial attitudes regarding ED program. The aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes and knowledge of infertile couples on different aspects of embryo donation program. Methods: A total of 200 infertile patients (women, n=101; men, n=99) attending our clinic, were asked to fill out the questionnaires. Part I of the questionnaire form contained general demographic information. Part II contained 14 questions to reveal their knowledge and attitudes about ED program. Results: The vast majority of the subjects had formal education. Nearly 80% were in favor of embryo donation program for selected infertile couple. Psychological counseling was strongly recommended by vast majority of respondents for both donor and the recipient of the embryos. Majority of the participants were in favor of ED over adopting a child. Conclusions: The vast majority of infertile patients had positive attitudes toward ED as treatment for selected infertile cases

People nowadays are engrossed in their daily routines, concentrating on their jobs and other responsibilities while ignoring their health. Because of their hurried lifestyles and disregard for their health, the number of people becoming ill grows daily. Furthermore, most of the population suffers from a disease such as cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease kills 35% of the world's population, according to W.H.O. A person's life can be saved if a heart disease diagnosis is made early enough. Still, it can also be lost if the diagnosis is constructed incorrectly. Therefore, predicting heart disease will become increasingly relevant in the medical sector. The volume of data collected by the medical industry or hospitals, on the other hand, can be overwhelming at times. Time-series forecasting and processing using machine learning algorithms can help healthcare practitioners become more efficient. In this study, we discussed heart disease and its risk factors and machine learning techniques and compared various heart disease prediction algorithms. Predicting and assessing heart problems is the goal of this research

Several risk factors, such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and an irregular heart rhythm, make an early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease challenging. Reducing cardiac risk calls for precise diagnosis and therapy. Clinical practice in the healthcare business is likely to evolve in tandem as a result of advancements in machine learning. Therefore, scientists and doctors need to acknowledge machine learning's significance. The fundamental purpose of this research is to a reliable analyzing Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease method that makes use of machine learning. Classifying well-known cardiovascular datasets But, on the other hand, is a job for state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and neural network algorithms. Several statistical and visualization indicators were used to assess the efficacy of the suggested approaches and to determine the optimal machine-learning and neural-network approach. Using these modeling methods acquired high and accurate accuracy on stroke and heart disease prediction

Adda-hole stream is a 14 km long perennial stream belonging to Kabbinale forest of Gundia region. It is free from pollution and has different habitats, each with diverse ornamental fish population. The ornamental fish of Adda-hole was studied between April 2011 and April 2012. This study revealed a total number of 17 different species of fish belonging to 9 different families, of which 7 species are endemic. According to the IUCN (2011), C. imitator and E. canarensis have been analysed as Data Deficient and Endangered respectively. These two species are restricted to Southern Western Ghats. So far, there is no record of any alien fish species which could be a threat to the ornamental fish fauna. This particular study indicates that this stream can be considered for conservation of some endemic ornamental fishes in Western Ghats

Mobilisation of Organic Reserves during Moult Cycle in the Prawn Penaeus indicus (H. Milne Edwards)

Organic reserves like lipid, cholesterol, protein, glycogen and glucose in muscle, hepawpancreas and haemolymph of P. indicusduring different stages of moult cycle were estimated. High values of these organic reserves obtained at early premoult stage (D 1) followed by a significant decrease at late premoult stage (D4) indicated marked storage and subsequent utilization during stages D 1 to D4. Low values were observed at stage A (early post-moult) confirming depletion iri the reserves just after moulting. High percentage of water found in the muscle during post-moult stage A and low values during premoult stage (D 1), in contrast to the pattern observed for organic reserves during this period substantiated the concept of tissue growth by replacement of water during the periods between the moults

The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the adverse effects of consumption of contaminated fish meal diet on estrous cycle, hormones and biochemical constituents in ovary and uterus of Albino rats, Rattus norvegicus. Rats were randomly distributed into five groups (n=6), Group I served as control, while group II, III and IV received combination of fish meal ratios and group V only fish meal diet for 90 days respectively. Result revealed fish meal diet arrested the normal estrous cycle at diestrous phase and reduction in protein, glycogen, and cholesterol in ovary and increase cholesterol content in uterus of experimental groups. Gradual decrease of estrogen indicated the fall of hormonal levels in all experimental groups (p< 0.05) and increase of progesterone led to prolonged diestrous phase. These changes indicates alteration in the physiology of the animal to toxic substance in contaminated fish meal diet which has a negative implication on the reproductive performance of rat

Fish inhabiting polluted waters accumulate various metals in tissues. The transfer of these into human beings through the food chain has adverse effects. The present study was undertaken to elicit the effect of consumption of contaminated fish meal on the hematological parameters of albino rats, Rattus norvegicus (Album). Thirty rats, weighing 45-50gms and randomly divided into 5 groups (n=6), were used for this study. Group I served as control and were given normal diet, group V were given only contaminated fish meal diet while group II, III and IV were given a mixture of normal and contaminated fish meal diet in the ratio of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3, respectively. All experiments were carried out for 90 days. Results of blood parameters revealed significant reduction (P< 0.05) in Total erythrocyte count (TEC), Hemoglobin (Hb) and packed cell volume (PCV) in group IV and V when compared to control. Leukocytes count showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in group IV and V. These effects may be due to the presence of heavy metals in the fish meal given to experimental rats. It is therefore concluded that consumption of fish from polluted waters is always associated with health risks

Accessory left testicular artery in association with double renal vessels: a rare anomaly

Get PDF
A rare association of accessory testicular artery along with double renal arteries and accessory renal vein was observed unilaterally on the left side. In addition, the left inferior phrenic artery was arising from the left gastric branch of the coeliac trunk. This was observed in the dissection of an adult male cadaver during a routine undergraduate teaching programme. In this case, the accessory left testicular artery originated superior to the normal testicular artery from the descending abdominal aorta immediately below the origin of the normal left renal artery. In addition to this artery, a variant renal artery was noted with three segmental branches before entering the hilum. The accessory renal vein emerged from the lower pole after the receiving testicular vein joined the main renal vein. The left inferior phrenic artery arose from the left gastric branch of the coeliac trunk. An anatomical description of this uncommon variation is presented in this case report, highlighting its clinical implications. (Folia Morphol 2011; 70, 4: 309–311
